Elouise Carson Young passed away June 16th 2012. Born November 17th 1920 in Liberty, Kansas she moved to Opelika, Alabama in 1984 where she lived until her death. Elouise had many experiences in her 91 plus years and was loved and will be missed by many. She grew up during the Great Depression, the youngest of seven siblings, which made her forever resourceful. In December of 1941, at the start of World War II, she moved to Washington D.C. and eventually joined the U.S. Coast Guard which took her to California and Florida. Later she returned to the Washington D.C. area where she met and married Clarence William Young who preceded her in death in 1974. They are survived by two children Steven Carson Young (Elaine) of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Lesa Joyce Yeatts (Orion) of Newport News, Virginia. Mrs. Young had a lifelong interest in the outdoors and nature and served as secretary of the Opelika Garden Club for many years. In her earlier years she loved to travel and had many memorable adventures with family and friends both here and abroad. She will always affectionately be known as Mom, Grand Mom or Great Grand Mom to her two children, 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Friends just called her “Weezie”. Elouise’s family sincerely thanks her many friends and church family for the care, companionship and love throughout these many years. She lived a rich and happy life.
