Bobbie Jo Abercrombie

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, July 24 at 2:00 PM CST at Providence Baptist Church in Opelika, Alabama. Bobbie Jo Abercrombie was born in Langdale, Alabama on February 1, 1943 and passed away at East Alabama Medical Center on July 21, 2017 surrounded by her family and friends.

Bobbie Jo was deeply loved by so many and is well known for her genuine love of family, friends, and dogs. Music was her true passion, and she shared her musical gifts with her beloved piano students for 55 years. Most recently, Bobbie was the devoted and talented organist at Providence Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Lanett High School in 1961 where she played the flute in the band and gained lifelong friends. She was also a proud member of the Million Dollar Band.  Bobbie will always be remembered for her welcoming laugh, her joyful disposition, and her warm hugs.  She was a faithful friend to all, and made each person in her life feel treasured.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her adoring parents, Vernon “Joe” and Bertie Wickham.  She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 44 years, Charles “Mack” Abercrombie, as well as her cherished family, daughters Kathy King and Nancy Herring (Bobby) and sons Rick Abercrombie and Jeff Abercrombie; grandchildren Patric Yancey, Anna Kate King, Amanda Demyan, Meghan Abercrombie, Teri Linder, Matthew Abercrombie, and Ryan Abercrombie; sister, Ann Stinson (Terry) and nieces, Sandy McKinnon (Tommy)and Amy Keaton (Bill). In addition, she is survived by two precious great grandchildren.
