Dr. Joseph H. (Joe) Yeager, long-time resident of Auburn, Alabama died August 14, 2017 at Monarch Estates in Auburn. Joe was born in Cullman, Alabama, October 23, 1920 and attended Cullman public schools. He graduated from Auburn University and served as Captain in U.S. Army during WWII. After military service, he returned to Auburn University for graduate school and later completed a Ph.D. at Purdue University. He returned to Auburn University as a member of the Agricultural Economics Department faculty and subsequently became Head of the Agricultural Economics Department. Joe was a member of Auburn United Methodist Church, Auburn Lions Club, and served in many civic organizations in Auburn.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie and survived by children, Jed Yeager (Cindy), Tom Yeager (Anita) and Paula Yeager Kennedy (Louis); five grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 17, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at Auburn United Methodist Church with burial at Auburn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:30 pm until 1:45 pm in Hamill Court at Auburn United Methodist Church before the service. Dr. George Mathison and Dr. Cory Smith will be officiating.
