Gene A. Bramlett

A celebration of life for Gene Bramlett will be held Monday, July 31, 2017 at 2:00pm at Auburn United Methodist Church with Dr. Cory Smith officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church at 1:00 p.m. before the service.

Gene passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017 at East Alabama Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bramlett, daughter Becky Bramlett Carter, and grandson Ben Bramlett.

He survived by his wife of 62 years, Carol; son, Howard of Smyrna, GA; and brother, Richard (Helen) Bramlett of Shelbyville, Kentucky; along with six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his great caretaker Valerie Calloway. 

After graduating from high school, Gene graduated from Murray State College. He served two years in Military before earning a Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky. He then accepted a position as Assistant Vice President at the University of Georgia, Athens. In 1975 he came to Auburn as Vice President and later became Director of AU Outreach. He retired in 1996.

He was an active member of Auburn United Methodist Church often teaching Sunday School. He was a member of the Auburn Rotary Club and the Men’s Book Club. He enjoyed many evenings with his book club friends and discussions with his study group.
