Annette Ball Justice Obituary

Annette Ball Justice, 97, of Auburn Alabama passed away April 22nd 2024 in Opelika at Arbor Springs after a short illness there. She was born on July 4th, 1926 to Reverend George and Mae Ball. A service will be held on Wednesday April 24th at the Auburn United Methodist Church Chapel with visitation beginning at 1:00pm followed by a memorial service at 2:00pm.

Anne graduated from Ensley High School and lived in Birmingham. She was employed by the Jefferson County Board of Education, Stockham Valve, and also worked in the medical field as a financial secretary for many years before moving to Auburn.

In 1984, Anne and her first husband, Jack Adamson moved to Auburn. Anne always had a great love for Auburn University and enjoyed a great knowledge of all aspects of Auburn University activities. Anne went to work for Auburn University in the Alumni Office working for Betty Dement where her pleasing and engaging personality allowed her to meet many Auburn fans from all across the country. She was well-versed in all aspects of University activities and in particular an avid Auburn football fan. Auburn Alumni from all across the country would call the Alumni Office on a regular basis specifically to talk to her about Auburn football, recruiting news, and to find out whatever they wanted to know in general about university activities. Jack Adamson passed away in 1989; Anne retired for a period of time and then went back to the Alumni Office to once again work, and where as a result of working there she met her second husband Ernie Justice. She and Ernie spent some fifteen years traveling and enjoying life until his death in 2009.

Anne has always been a very dedicated and loved member of Auburn United Methodist Church. She enjoyed singing from an early age and became a member of the church choir when she first moved to Auburn. She and her sister Carol were vibrant members of the church choir. Her service to the choir spanned an almost 40-year tenure. She was also devoted to all aspects of church life and served in many volunteer capacities throughout her years. Reverend George Mathison and Gary Klarenbeek will be officiating the memorial service.

Anne is survived by her daughter Beverly Adamson King, husband E. Dave King, III; her daughter Nancy Adamson Taylor, husband Fred M. Taylor; grandchildren Murray Taylor, wife Lauren Taylor and their children John Thomas Taylor and Lawson Taylor as well as grandchildren Laura Taylor Falone, husband Jeff Falone and their children Lane Falone and Will Falone. She is also survived by her sister Carol Ledbetter –and her nephew Chris Ledbetter, niece Leigh Layfield, niece Pam Ledbetter and Carol’s grandchildren Chris Ledbetter Jr., Parker Ledbetter, Logan and Claudia Layfield.

As a celebration of Anne’s wonderful Christian life and as what she meant to the Auburn- Opelika community, the family extends a cordial and loving invitation to friends, family and church congregation members.
