Mr. Albert “Al” Lee Eastridge (79) was born on August 1, 1937 in Lee County, Alabama to Mr. Dixie Lee Eastridge and Mrs. Loneta Eastridge Rogers.  He lost his battle to cancer with family, friends and his beloved wife of 40 years by his side at home in Opelika, Alabama.  He walked through heaven’s gates on Sunday, July 23, 2017.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy and his three children: Sandra (Mike) Wilson, Lee (Theresa) Eastridge, and Liz (Louis) Scott, as well as, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by 5 sisters, Grace Deloach, Lillian Langley, Violet (John) Wilson, Carol (Rogers) Welch, and Mavis (Stephen) Mabe.

Kathy’s children, Wanda (Tommy) Harris, Darrel (Susan) High, and Penny Stewart, as well as, her four grandchildren and six great grandchildren all loved Al as their own “Pop”.

Al or better known to many as “Pop” was a retired truck driver of 42 years resided in Opelika, Alabama with his wife, Kathy.  He was a deacon and active member of Providence Baptist Church.  He loved life to the fullest and enjoyed every second of time spent with family and friends.  His love was unconditional and he adored all their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He had many hobbies that started with collecting baseball cards and that is where the Beauregard community got to know and love him.  After his retirement, he developed a true craftsmanship of developing beautifully wire-wrapped jewelry.  He and Kathy traveled to gem and mineral shows and quickly developed the skills needed to create one of a kind pieces of art.  They enjoyed their time spent together and his love for rocks and wire-wrapped jewelry developed into a successful business, Earth’s Treasures.  He shared his love for rocks with all who knew him, especially his best friend, Billy Hoffman.  In addition, he devoted his time to a local club “The Rockhounds”, where he served as president for many years.

He had a soft, heart of gold for his family.  He never met a stranger and was sure to tell you how much he loved you every time he saw you.

Visitation will be held at Providence Baptist Church (East Campus) in Opelika, Alabama on Tuesday, July 25th from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m.  Funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m.
