Bettemae Baughn “Busy” Womack, of Auburn, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 3, 2018, at the age of 97. Her loving daughter, Joan, was with her at her bedside. Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Bettemae graduated from the North Avenue Presbyterian School, where she was an excellent student and lettered in basketball. She was a longtime member of the All Saints’ Episcopal Church North Ave., Atlanta, where she devoted countless hours volunteering for worthy causes. She loved chocolate and the color purple; was a Girl Scout troop leader; cheered tirelessly for her beloved Atlanta Falcons and Braves; cooked amazing fried chicken; and excelled at contract bridge, Boggle, and Yahtzee. Her cheerful kindness and generosity of spirit will be greatly missed, and never forgotten.
Bettemae was preceded in death by her husband, Taylor S. Womack, and is survived by her daughter Joan White and son-in-law Dennis White; her granddaughter Elizabeth White-Spratlin (Travis) and great-grandchildren Mason and Avery Spratlin; and her grandson Alan White (Tracey). In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to the Lee County Humane Society.
