Betty Sewell McAreavy Obituary

Betty Sewell McAreavy, of Panama City Beach, Florida, age 82, died in an auto accident on October 9, 2018 in Russell County, Alabama. She was born in Oxford, Alabama on June 30, 1936 to Lewis Grady Sewell and Mary Francis Haynes Sewell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Tommy and Junior Sewell; and her daughter, Tewana Higginbotham Mahaffee.

Mrs. McAreavy leaves behind her dear friend, John Teel; her daughters: Tamora Higginbotham Trammell of Panama City Beach, FL and Mary Ann Anderson Roberts (Jimmy) of Auburn, AL. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and other beloved family members.

"Our mother adored her friends and family. Her door was always open, and she loved visits from her grandkids. She was an accomplished painter, an avid reader, and a wonderful cook. She leaves a huge void in our lives and will be dearly missed." A memorial service will be held in Oxford, AL at a later date.
