Welcome to the memorial page for

Bobbie Thornton Kelley Boisclair

December 29, 1929 ~ January 4, 2018 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Bobbie Boisclair was born on December 29, 1929 in Elmore County, Alabama, to the late Chester Thornton.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Stanley Thornton, Eclectic, AL; husband, James H. (Jim) Kelley (Angie and Brian), Auburn, AL, and husband, Charles E. (Charlie) Boisclair, Auburn, AL.

She is survived by her mother, Bertha Thornton Atkins, Eclectic, AL; brothers, James C. Thornton, Dadeville, and John Wayne Thornton, Eclectic, AL; daughter, Angela White (Kyle); son, James Brian Kelley; grandson, Caleb James White (Kyle and Angie), all of Auburn and several nephews and nieces.

Upon graduation from Elmore County High School where she was a member of the girls’ basketball team and Beauty Court, she married her high school sweetheart, Jim Kelley.  They moved to Montgomery, AL where she worked at the First National Bank for many years.  She was also an active member of the Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Montgomery.  In 1965, they moved to Auburn, AL where she and Jim owned and operated a boarding house/dining room for Auburn University students called “The Tea Room.”  In 1967, The Tea Room tragically burned to the ground and Bobbie started working at the Holleman’s Daycare in Auburn, where she taught pre-school for many years.  Upon the daycare’s closing, she became employed by the Auburn University Alumni Association where she worked as a computer program operator for many years.  Bobbie had a love for Auburn University and enjoyed attending several different sporting events.  Some of her fondest memories were attending Auburn University football games and tailgating with her family.  She was a member of the Auburn First Baptist Church and continued her love of working with children, teaching pre-school Sunday school for many years.  For the last 30 years she was an active member of the Lakeview Baptist Church where she continued to work with children and youth and sing in the adult choir.  She was also very active in women’s bible study and in her Sunday school class.

Bobbie Boisclair loved her Lord and Savior Jesus, her family and her church.  She was a gracious hostess, loved to dance and sing, and always had a smile and hug for everyone she encountered.  Her life was an example of how we should live; in humility, in service to God, and to love unconditionally.
