Dr. Ed Ramey

Funeral service for Dr. Ed Ramey, 81, of Auburn, AL will be on Monday, April 15, 2019 at 2PM at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Auburn.  Burial follows at Auburn Memorial Park.  Monsignor William Skoneki is officiating.  Visitation is Sunday, April 14, from 6 to 8PM at Jeffcoat Trant.

Dr. Ramey was born April 5, 1938, in Mobile, AL.  He died Thursday, April 11, at Arbor Springs in Opelika.  He earned his BS and MS in Civil Engineering from Auburn University and his PhD from the University of Colorado at Boulder.  He returned to Auburn to teach for 42 years, acting as head of the Civil department for several years from the late 1980’s to the mid-90’s.  He retired in 2007 as Professor Emeritus.  He was a dedicated lifelong learner and Auburn fan.  He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed the outdoors, working in his yard and vacationing in Gulf Shores and Callaway Gardens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Gertrude Ramey, and his first wife of 41 years, Sandy Ramey.  He is survived by his second wife, Carol Ann Ramey, and his children, Kim (Bernie) Fussell, Tracy (Danny) Power, Lisa Ramey (John Saunders), Doug (De Ann) Ramey, John (Kristi) Ramey, and his 10 grandchildren.  Also cherishing his memory, his brother Jimmy Ramey, sisters Ann Ramey, Fae Niccolai, and Peggy McCarthy and his extended family Paul Russell (Helen) Place, Cheri (Chris) Chaffin, and Christy (Lee) Lucas.
