Dr. James Norman Hool

Dr. James Norman Hool, 79 of Auburn, AL and formerly of Streator, IL passed away Tuesday (April, 17, 2018) at his home.

Jim was born on May 28,1938, in Streator, IL to Glenn N. and Pauline (Strawn) Hool. He married his loving wife Amerils J. Hool on December 6, 1989 and shared a blessed 29 years together.

In life Jim was a scholar, eductor and athlete, he graduated form Streator High School in 1956 and from Purdue University with a BA in Forestry in 1960, a Masters in 1962 and was awarded his doctorate in Statistical Engineering in 1963. He taught at Auburn Uinversity for 37 years in the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering and continued consulting upon retirement. Jim's hobbies of trains and boats were passions he shared with all who knew him.

He is proceeded in death by his parents: Glenn N. and Pauline (Strawn) Hool, and son-in-law, James Stewart Young.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Amerils J. Hool; daughter, Alexandra (Larry) Parkman,Gabe and Conner, of Sharspburg, GA; son, Gregory (Erin) Hool, Elliot and Paige, of Auburn; daughter, Myra Young, Parker and Grant, of Buford,GA; son, Robert Craig Williams, and Kelsey of Haleyville, AL; and daughter, Marsha (Bud) Wilson,Sara and Clay, of Haleyville, AL. He is also survived by his sisters: Linda Wagner of Streator IL and Laura (John) Bowers of Montrose, CO; and brother, Scott Hool of Streator, IL; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In the last year Jim enjoyed the people, music and care of REACH Community Respite Ministry of Auburn United Methodist Church in Auburn, AL. In lieu of flowers the family would be honored for donations in Jim's name to be made to the REACH Community Respite Ministry, P.O. Box 3135, Auburn, AL 36831-3135.

The Memorial Service will be held Monday, April, 23, 2018 at 1:00 pm in the founders Chapel of Auburn United Methodist Church, 137 Gay Street, Auburn, AL. Visitation will begin in the chapel at 12:30 pm.
