Gloria Jean "Sister" Owsley Taylor

Gloria Jean “Sister” Owsley Taylor went to be with Jesus Saturday, July 29, 2017. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home at 10:00am until 11:00am. Funeral service will follow at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home beginning at 11:00am in the chapel, Dr. Sowell will be officiating.

Gloria “Sister” was born May 28, 1943 in Opelika, AL to Mr. William Thomas Owsley and Lizzie Ola Kenny. Gloria loved Jesus and was a longtime member of Union Grove Baptist Church. Gloria worked for Auburn University, and retired after eighteen years of service.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents William Thomas Owsley, Lizzie Ola Kenny; sisters: Eugenia Chambley, and Dorothy Evans; brothers: Franklin Owsley, Windfield Owsley, and L.O. “Bud” Owsley.

Gloria is survived by her husband John Taylor of Opelika; daughters: Annette Taylor, and Kathy (Ron) Watson; grandchildren: Ashley (Sonja) Pulsifer, Lelia Pulsifer, Jonathan Winslett; great grandchildren: Ashanti, Alicia, and Jamal Whittingham; sister, Ann (Carl) Downing; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
