James Lynn Smith

James Lynn Smith was called home on September 30, 2017 at the age of 73 after a long-fought battle with cancer. Lynn was born on October 11, 1943 in Grayson County, Kentucky and was a graduate of Clarkson County High School. He is survived by his wife of 53 years (Iris Faye Smith), daughters Kimberly Lowhorn (Johnny) and Karen Long (Chris), and 7 beloved grandchildren, as well as his brother (Phil) and two sisters (Dianne and Renee). He was preceded in death by his parents (Monty and Estella Smith).

Lynn retired after 35 years of service from Vermont American.

He will be remembered most for his devotion to his family and love for all things Disney. His wisdom and nurturing kindness will live on in his legacy forever. He taught his family to value respect, responsibility, and selflessness, and instilled in his family a love for knowledge and humble character. He treated others with an abundance of grace and always brought hope and humor into every conversation. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held at Jeffcoat Trant Funeral Home on Sunday October 1, 2017 from 4-6 p.m. A graveside funeral service for family and friends will take place at Town Creek Cemetery on October 2, 2017 at 11 a.m.
