Marlene Crow Bramlett White Obituary

Marlene Crow Bramlett White, 85, died in Auburn, Alabama, March 29, 2018, of kidney failure.

She was born May 6, 1932, in Auburndale, Florida, and raised in Plant City, Florida. She spent most of her adult life in Jacksonville, Florida, and came to Auburn, Alabama in 2005. She married Neal Rhodes Bramlett on September 16, 1950. They remained married until his death January 3, 2006. Neal and Marlene enjoyed a life together of family, friends, and church. They traveled the world and encouraged a love of travel in their children by including them in many of their trips. They had four children: Kirk Bramlett (Belinda), Lynn Montgomery (Ric), Jan Cone, and Karen Herring (Rod); fourteen grandchildren: Tina (Brent), KJ, Rebecca (Brandon), Ryan, Robert, Christy (Dan), Alexis, Kate (Shon), Scott (Alexis), Victoria (Victor), Neal, Rachel (TJ), Ross and Samantha; and fourteen (and counting) great-grandchildren: Roy, Abigail, Lacey, Hannah, Hunter, Leah, Aleck, Olivia, Baylor, Brylee, Victoria, Alexander, Cris, and Russell.

She married widower Jack E. White on December 15, 2010. They met through the senior ministry at First Baptist Church Opelika. They were travel companions, lunch buddies, doctor visit partners, and best of friends.

Marlene was a devoted wife, loving mother, and country girl at heart. Jesus was the Lord of her life, and her favorite scripture was Psalm 23. When asked by a grandchild for her most important advice, she immediately said, “Love God.” She was also very artistic and an avid reader. She enjoyed painting, crochet, knitting, needlepoint, drawing, sewing, and playing many musical instruments. Her favorite book was the Bible, but she also enjoyed mysteries, historical fiction, and learning about the world around her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Opelika, interment will follow at Garden Hills Cemetery. Dr. Mike King will be officiating the service.
