Montford O. Burgess, Jr.

Montford O. Burgess, Jr. of Opelika, died at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, GA on January 16, 2018. 

Born on May 13, 1943 in Washington, DC, "Monty" graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management.  He later earned an MBA Degree from Troy State University in Dothan, AL.

During his career, Monty managed airports in Alabama, New Mexico, Florida, and Tennessee.  He was a member of and a President of the Southeast Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives.

Monty was a member of, and an elder at Trinity Presbyterian Church of Opelika.  He was an avid golfer and loved working in his yard.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy MacIntosh Burgess; a daughter Edith "Edie" Burgess of Smyrna, GA; a son, Montford O. Burgess, III "Trey" and his wife Melissa; a granddaughter, Emily; and a grandson, Montford O. Burgess, IV "Ford" of Chamblee, GA.; and numerous family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church of Opelika at 11:00 o'clock on Friday, January 19, 2018. Dr. Chris Duncan will officiate.   A reception in the Fellowship Hall will be held following the  service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1010 India Road, Opelika, Alabama 36801.
