On Sunday, June 9, 2019, Charles Kenneth Meeker Jr., loving father, friend, teacher, and mentor peacefully passed away at the age of 75. Ken was born on November 16, 1943, in Louisville, KY to Charles “C.K.” and Barbara Evans Meeker.
He attended the University of Louisville and continued his education to obtain his Doctorate in Genealogy. Ken a U.S. Navy Veteran, dove all over the world and had a passion for the ocean and exploring the vast unknown. This led to a career in diving, acting as a lead photographer for Skin Diver Magazine. In his more recent years, he was a substitute teacher for the surrounding Auburn and Opelika public schools. He had a passion and love for reading and storytelling which many will fondly remember him for. He was known for his sarcasm, quick wit and infectious laugh.
Ken was survived by his daughter Demi, son Charles “Chase”, his recent wife Katrina, and five grandchildren, Logan, Lucas, Leigh, Sarah and Sullivan. He was a member of the Church of the Highlands where his memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at 4 PM. The family has designated the Coral Restoration Foundation for memorial contributions to help restore the coral reefs Ken loved so much in Florida and globally.
