Mr. James Leon Acker

Mr. James Leon Acker, 87, of Auburn, AL passed away at his home on Friday, November 22.  Jim was born to the late Leon and Gunhilda (Pederson) Acker on May 8, 1932 in Bloomville NY.  He served in the US Army during the Korean War and later moved to Sidney, NY, where he raised 5 children with his wife Helen and had a 30-year career with Amphenol Aerospace.

Jim is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen, and his children: Susan, Lauren (Angela), Bruce (Valerie), and Barbara (David).  Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his son John.

Jim loved boating, camping, and traveling.  He always was a lively addition to social gatherings and will be very much missed by his family and friends.  The family thanks the Oak Park community for being so wonderful to Jim during his years in Auburn.

A celebration of life service will be held at the Oak Park retirement community in Auburn on December 4 at 2pm.
