Gloria Kimbrough Lynn of Auburn, AL passed in peace the morning of Friday, May 24, 2019, with her son and daughter by her side. She was born to KP and Alethia Kimbrough on September 11, 1934. Mrs. Lynn was a graduate of Auburn University with several advanced degrees in education. She was a retired elementary school teacher from the Opelika City School System.
Mrs. Lynn was predeceased by her sons Thomas Miller Lynn and James Keener (Debbie) Lynn of LaGrange, GA. She is survived by her son Jeff (Cindy) Lynn of Auburn, AL, and daughter Barbara (Dick) Staples of Alexandria, VA; grandchildren Katie Staples, Tommy (Kaley) Lynn, Caroline (Ben) Brooks, Michael (Dina) Lynn, Gresham Lynn, and Elizabeth (Eric) Lidvall; great-granddaughter Mabel Brooks; brothers James (Carolyn) Kimbrough and Gibson Kimbrough; and her children’s loving stepmother, Laureen H. Lynn, who was a dear friend to Gloria.
Gloria will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving mother, grandmother, educator, and church member. She loved her church and was an active member of the Joel McDavid Sunday School class and Harvesters. She enjoyed Silver Sneakers, Zumba Gold, and Tai Chi classes at the Auburn Rec Center.
Services will be held on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2019 at Auburn United Methodist Church, Founders Chapel. Viewing will be at 1:00 pm, service at 2:00 pm, followed by a graveside burial at Auburn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Gloria Lynn.
