Rebecca “Becky” Jean Boyd of Auburn, Alabama, born on May 26, 1955, entered Heaven’s gates on April 27 surrounded by her family following a long battle with cancer.
A loving wife, mother, “Grammy” and dear friend to many, Becky spent her life giving to others. Over the years, it was not unusual to visit her home and find new people she had taken in, loved, and cared for as her own. Aside from her family and friends, Auburn football was her greatest love! She rarely missed a game even if she “couldn’t watch” because she was so nervous. Becky devoted 36 years of her life to Dr. Kevin Jackson as his office manager. The office staff, patients, and Dr. Jackson were her extended family.
Becky was predeceased by her Mother, Betty Jane Allen Bryant; her father, James Freelon Bryant; her brother, Jim Bryant of Victorville, California; her brother, Don Bryant of Notasulga, Alabama; her nephew, Eric Bryant of Notasulga, Alabama.
Becky is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Billy F. Boyd. She is also survived by her son, Bryan Halbrook (Ashlei) of Auburn; her son, Brad Halbrook of Auburn; her daughter, Kimberly “Niki” Townsend (Marc) of Opelika; her step-daughter, Tonya Short (Eric) of Auburn; her step-son, Brandon Boyd (Brooke) of Auburn. She had 8 grandchildren: Reagan Halbrook (16), Hannah Halbrook (13), Avalynn Townsend (1), Spencer Short (21), Trevor Short (18), Jordis Short (12), Stella Boyd (7), and Whaley Boyd (1). She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Earlene Harper of Roanoke, Alabama; her sister-in-law, Amanda Bryant of Notasulga, Alabama; sister-in-law Joyce Bryant of Victorville, California, sister-in-law, Kay Ferrell of Valley, Alabama; sister-in-law, Nancy Abney (LeRoy) of Valley, Alabama; brother-in-law, William Boyd (Diane) of Roanoke Alabama; Gary Boyd (Sundra) of Woodland, Alabama; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held Wednesday, May 1 at 2:00 PM at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home, 1500 Fredrick Road, Opelika, Alabama, officiated by Ralph Cotton. The family will receive visitors at 12:00-1:30 on Wednesday prior to the funeral service.
