Thelma Lucille Finkley, age 93, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 10th, 2019. She went peacefully while surrounded by her loved ones in Melbourne, Florida. Thelma was born to her loving parents Thomas and Willie (Hamblin) Gusler on November 1st, 1925 in Parrott, Virginia. She grew up and raised her family in Michigan where she worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” during WWII and later became a hairdresser and homemaker. She lived many happy years of her retirement in Opelika, Alabama and finally moved to Melbourne, Florida. Her priorities were her relationship with Jesus and her family. She loved reading her Bible, playing cards, writing in her journal, and playing bingo.
She is survived by her beloved son Donald E. Wiegand, Jr. and daughter-in-law Mary Wiegand as well as nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and countless beloved family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Willie Gusler, her husband Donald E. Wiegand, Sr. and Van B. Finkley, as well as her brother Carl Gusler.
The family is holding memorial services at Jeffcoat Trant Funeral home in Opelika, Alabama on June 19th at 2pm.
