Taylor Christianson Pierce departed this life on November 11, 2018. Taylor is survived by his parents, Roger and Dawn Pierce; brothers: Troy Blakney Pierce (Gee), Travis Brandon Pierce (Anna Kathryn), Jamie Austin Pierce, Sister: Haley Pierce Clark (Jon) and Aleyia Jasmine Pierce. He was also survived by his grandfather (William GG Blakney), numerous beloved aunts, uncles and cousins and five adoring nieces and nephews (Sara, Gracie, Auburn, Grayson, and Maddie).
Taylor was a talented and gifted jazz guitarist. He received several scholarships to study jazz guitar and studied at Berklee College of Music, Boston; University of North Texas and Columbus State College. He eventually graduated from Auburn University in December of 2017. Music was his gift and his greatest passion. He was happiest when playing his guitar, and we are so thankful to his jazz family, including Mike, Tiffany and Tim, who encouraged and supported his endeavors. He is playing now and forever in the presence of his Creator and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Taylor had a dry, sarcastic wit and a biting sense of humor. He was empathetic and wished the best for everyone. His heart bled for those who were less fortunate. He was a very private person and let very few people into his world. He loved his dogs, Chewy and Okami. He also loved books, movies, video games and Steven Cobert. But above all, he loved his brothers and sisters and they adored their baby brother. It was difficult for all who knew and loved him to watch as he battled crippling depression and anxiety for many years and all of his adult life. In his room, his private sanctuary, he posted bible verses and pursued in prayer his Lord, in whose loving arms he know rests. Although his life was riddled with depression and anxiety, he brought great joy to those who were blessed to know and love him. There are no words to convey how much he will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wellspring Counseling in Birmingham, or Alabama Suicide Prevention and Resources Coalition Asparc.org or Nami Alabama (namialabama.or)
