Aaron Ellie Greene, 96, of Auburn, AL, passed away peacefully at home on March 22, 2025.
Born May 9th, 1928, in Chambers County, AL, he graduated from Lanett High School in 1946 as “Who’s Who” in football and basketball and voted Cutest in class. A self-made man, Aaron worked in the mills to put himself through Pharmacy School at Auburn University, where he graduated in 1951. He was owner of Green Super Drugs of Lanett, O’Neil Drugs of Homewood, and Glenn Dean Drugs of Auburn.
He was a man of strong Christian Faith, regularly attending Sunday service at Auburn First Baptist Church and keeping daily prayer sessions for others. In his long retirement, when he wasn’t doing yard work, he was an avid fisherman, golfer, and world traveler. He was a true “Auburn Man,” who believed in hard work and passed this ideal on to his children. He never missed an opportunity to tell you how much he loved you. He will always be remembered for the love he gave so freely, for his sense of humor and infectious laughter, and his quick wit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Henry and Nannie Mae, and three children, Heather, Lauren, and David.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Brenda; and four sons, Aaron Jr. (Chip), Pete (Daughter-in-Law, Kelly, grandchildren, Jakob, Mason, Rollins, & Emma), Patrick (Daughter-in-Law, Aimee, granddaughter, Ava), and Peyton (Daughter-in-Law, Courtney, grandchildren, Walter, Ellie, & Whitman).
A Memorial Service to celebrate his long life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 28, in the Auburn First Baptist Church Sanctuary, with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.
