Abbie Jo Stone Hawkins

Abbie Jo Stone Hawkins of Auburn, Alabama passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Arbor Springs in Opelika. Mrs. Hawkins was born December 17, 1926, in Black Flat, Texas.

She was employee of the year during her many years at Auburn University as secretary in the physics department and retired as assistant to the dean of the College of Science and Mathematics. She was a caring and loving mother and a faithful friend to all who knew her.  She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Herbert “Hub” Hawkins. She is survived by her children: Julie Hawkins and Jim Hawkins (Trish); grandchildren: Christopher James Hawkins, Lexi Leigh Hawkins, Elise Diffie, Matt Diffie; great grandchildren: Colton Hawkins, Brodie Hawkins, Grayson Hawkins.

A visitation will be held 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Friday, May 6, 2022 at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be directed to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
