Betty Ruth Griggs Ledbetter, 86, of Opelika Alabama, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2021 at Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama. Betty (“Mimi”) was born in Notasulga, Alabama to Henry and Dora Griggs on September 9, 1934. Betty loved cooking for friends and family. It brought her great joy at Christmas time for many years to bake her “Special Cakes” and deliver them to her doctors, church staff and friends. She also loved fishing and Lake Martin. Mostly, she loved Jesus and was a member of First Baptist Church Opelika where she was also a member of the Ledbetter Sunday School Class and the Sunshine Singers.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Dora Griggs and her husband, Crawford R. Ledbetter Sr. She is survived by her sisters- Bessie (John) Godwin, Nellie (Dennis) Stough, Margaret (John) Mask and Beverly (L.D.) Meredith, her son Crawford (Cindy) Ledbetter of Opelika, Alabama; Brenda (David) Lucas of Opelika; Carol (Alan) Dorn of Auburn, Alabama; Grandchildren Trey (Casey) Ledbetter, Tatum (Hope) Ledbetter, Taft (Jessica) Ledbetter, Cameron Lucas, Adam (Ashley) Dorn and Haley Dorn. Great grandchildren-Hayden, Khloe, Hunter, Locke and baby AJ (in June).
A Memorial Service will be held at Jeffcoat Trant Funeral Home and Crematory on Tuesday February 16, 2021. In Honor of Betty and Crawford Ledbetter. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. with service at 11:00 a.m. Josh Agerton officiating. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the caregivers at Azalea Place and Bethany House and to Betty Jordan for her time spent with her.
