Bonnie Daughtry Obituary

Bonnie G. Erskine Daughtry of Gold Hill Al. passed away on the morning of Nov 7th, 2020. Ms. Daughtry was the daughter of Retired USMC Four Star General Graves B. Erskine and Margaret Spratling Erskine.

 Ms. Daughtry was born in Norfolk Virginia on April 5th, 1939. Soon after Ms. Daughtry’s birth, the family moved to S. California. Their father was stationed out of Camp Pendleton Ca. and sent overseas to the Pacific Theater during the war. Growing up in Southern California Ms. Daughtry enjoyed horseback riding and various beach activities like surfing, swimming, and hanging out at the beach. 

Ms. Daughtry eventually moved to the Gold Hill Alabama area to be closer to family. She worked as a nurse for 26 years. She was employed at the Drake Auburn University Student Health Center for 16 years and Camelia Place Assisted Living in Auburn for 9 years before retiring in 2005. After retirement Ms. Daughtry enjoyed spending time with her family, including time with her seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Ms. Daughtry cared for and loved a wide variety of animals over the years She also enjoyed jewelry making, birdwatching, traveling, and going to the beach.

Ms. Daughtry was preceded in death by her two sisters, Margaret "Peggie" Erskine Hays and Maureen Erskine Haaland. She is survived by three children: Bonnie Daughtry Barraza (Michael) Gold Hill Al, Mike Daughtry (Sheila) Opelika Al and Patrick Daughtry (Lynn) Salem Al; seven grandchildren: Lindsey Barraza Seale (Christy) Opelika Al Shannon Barraza Mobile Al Evan Barraza (Taylor) Auburn Al Shelby Prestridge Opelika Al Benjamen Daughtry Opelika Al Patrick Daughtry Jr. Regensburg Germany and Amanda Daughtry VanAusdal (Duncan) Belle Fourche SD; three great grandchildren: Duncan Jr. Evie, and Emerald all.of Belle Fourche SD; two nieces Lea Grier (Greg) and Seana Lammers; and a nephew, Christian Lammers. A graveside memorial for Ms. Daughtry will be held on a future date.
