Charles Michael Riley, age 66, of Auburn died on Monday, May 18, 2020 at Bethany House in Auburn.
Mike graduated from Decatur High School in 1972 and attended Auburn University. Mike was born in Decatur but his heart was always in Auburn. He was an avid Auburn fan and enjoyed attending sports events and tailgating. He held various accounting jobs in the Auburn area but his most beloved job, and the one he was most remembered for, is Manager at The Heart of Auburn Hotel. He looked forward to each football season, and the Heart of Auburn “football family” enjoyed seeing his smiling face every weekend in the fall.
He is preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Riley. He is survived by his mother, Willa Dean Riley of Decatur, AL, sister, Tami Chambers (Wayne) of Notasulga, AL, sister, Wendy Crane (Allyn) of Decatur, AL, several nieces and nephews and his dear friend, Marty Casey
The family would like to thank the staff at East Alabama Medical Center and Bethany House for providing loving care to him during his hospitalization and his final days as well as for providing compassionate support for his family through daily phone calls. The family is also very grateful to Marty Casey for always being such a devoted friend to him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Church of the Highlands where Mike was a member of the Auburn East Campus or to the charity of your choice.
