Donna Lorraine Miller Specht, age 75, of Auburn AL, formerly of Portsmouth VA, Bowie, MD, and Freeport FL, died January 12, 2021. She was born May 29, 1945 in Portsmouth, VA, and was the daughter of the late Olin and Mary Miller.
Mrs. Specht was retired. She was a member of Purpose Baptist Church in Opelika. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Portsmouth, VA, and Smith-Deal Massey Business College. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Harold Specht. She and Tom, who she often described as “the love of her life,” were married in 1968 and enjoyed 51 years of marriage until Tom’s passing. Throughout their years of marriage, the US Coast Guard took them to duty stations in VA, MD, and finally FL. During that time, her life was increasingly filled with friends, many that she came to treasure like family.
She is survived by her daughter April Olive (David) of Auburn, AL and son Brock Specht (Missy) of Griffin, GA; her 5 beloved grandchildren- Stephen Specht, Cameron Specht, Erin Olive, Ben Olive and Lindsey Olive; sister Jean Wright (Bobby) of Carrollton VA, her niece Robin Wright of Destin, FL and many other extended family members.
Mrs. Specht had a deep love for Christ and for the Bible. She was known for her hospitality and love of entertaining and cooking, and always had a bed for a visitor. She kept her fridge stocked with chocolate milk and all her grandchildren favorites. She loved to have them at her home, and always shared with everyone how proud she was of them. She was loved by many friends and family, near and far, and will be so missed.
With respect to Covid-19 guidelines, a graveside service will be held on Sun., January 17, 2021 at Town Creek Cemetery, Auburn, AL, with Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home officiating. It is the family’s wish to hold a memorial service at a later date to be determined.
