Pete Cochran, 93 passed away in Opelika, Alabama where he resided since 2011. Pete was born in Montgomery, Alabama. His mother died when he was 2 years old, and he grew up in the Brantwood Children’s home in Montgomery, Alabama during the Depression. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War at Naval Station Argentia, Newfoundland, Canada. He returned to Montgomery and worked for over 41 years in the U.S. Postal Service. He retired from the Postal Service and later from NAPA Auto Parts.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Mabel Peach Cochran, and his second wife Jane Cochran; his mother and father; and his four siblings, Doris Glover, Wilma Pilgreen, Jack Cochran and Hollis Cochran. He is survived by his son Robert Cochran, daughter Linda Wade, both of Auburn, Alabama, his grandchildren Christy Cochran, Kelly Cochran and Clint Cochran, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family, as well as his beloved Newfoundland in-laws.
The family would like to thank his long term caregivers and the management at Arbor Springs Rehabilitation Center and Nursing Home. A private family memorial service will be conducted at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations be made to Arbor Springs, the USO or any charity of your choice.
