Our beloved father George S. King, Jr passed away peacefully in hospice on September 26, 2024, at the age of 84. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 12, 1939. He lived a life of service to his family, his country and any organization he joined. He met his wife, Sue H. King, while at Auburn University where they each learned they shared a love to build a family and the adventures that life together would provide. He was a proud member of the US Air Force and served in the Vietnam War and continued to serve in the reserves for years afterward while working to provide for his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue H. King. He leaves behind his children George-Ann Smith and Michael King, and grandchildren Austin Smith and Ivy Barber.
A brief graveside service will be held at Town Creek Cemetary in Auburn, Alabama at the memorial wall where his ashes will be placed. The service will take place at 11am on Monday, October 14, 2024. A reception will follow at Amsterdam Cafe with refreshments. Reception parking is available at the cafe and the Trinity Lutheran Church next door. Friends and family are welcome. The family asks for donations to the Parkinson's Foundation, in lieu of flowers. On the web, navigate to http://www.parkinsons.org. Click "How You Can Help". Then click "Make a tribute gift".
