Gloria Cobb Johnson

Gloria Cobb Johnson passed away on November 6, 2022 at the age of 90 She was born on February 14, 1932 in Mobile, Alabama. She graduated from Murphy High School and enrolled in Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. In 1951 she transferred to Auburn University and became a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. Her scholastic record put her on the Dean's List many times and accorded her membership into Phi Kappa Phi. In her senior year, she was named "Dream Girl" at the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1953, she married Jack Johnson who began his career at Kurt Salmon Associates.

In 1976 she earned a nursing degree from Georgia State University and worked for Northside Hospital for several years. In 1998 Gloria and Jack moved to Auburn where they built their dream home In Grove Hill Subdivision. She enjoyed activities with the Garden Club and tap dancing with Gigi's Tappets. She was a member of Auburn United Methodist Church.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents Gladys and Edward Rogers Cobb, her brother Colonel Edward Rogers Cobb Jr., her husband Jack Johnson, her sons Jeffrey Eliot Johnson and David Newman Johnson. She is survived by her son Jack Anderson Johnson Jr. (Andy), his wife Cynthia Cotner Johnson, and grandchildren Michael David Johnson and Ashley Louise Johnson.

A viewing and remembrance will be held at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm.
