Mrs. Irish Cooper Blackburn, 92, of Dadeville, AL passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Dadeville Healthcare Center.
Mrs. Blackburn was born June 10, 1926 in Wadley, GA to parents, H.M. and Ruby Cooper. She graduated from Wadley High School and attended North Georgia College. She was employed in agricultural chemicals and retired from Monsanto Corporation as a branch manager in Summerdale, AL. She began her spiritual journey as a member of First Baptist Church, Wadley, GA and at the end of her life was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Opelika, AL.
Mrs. Blackburn is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Benton Blackburn; daughter, Beverly; sister, Rita Cooper Daniel; brother, H.M. Cooper, Jr.; and her parents: H.M. and Ruby Cooper.
She is survived by her sons: Arthur Blackburn, Jr. (Frances) of Dadeville, AL, and James Blackburn II (Jane) of LaGrange, GA; sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Cooper of Augusta, GA; brother, Jack Cooper of Louisville, GA; grandchildren: Benton Blackburn (Amy), Jessica Ruff (Seth), John Blackburn (Sarah Anne), Travis Blackburn, and Corie Ring (Jordan); great-grandchildren: Paxton and Barrett Blackburn, and Reece and Fischer Ring; and her nephews and nieces.
Graveside services for Mrs. Irish Cooper Blackburn will be Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Swainsboro, GA City Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, June 18, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home. Reverend Earl Ballard is officiating.
