Joan K. Dilworth, 80 of Auburn, passed away September 25, 2022 at Bethany House. She was born July 15, 1942 to Dr. Benjamin M. and Edna Merle Carraway. She is preceded in death by her late husband George W. King; her parents and sister Peggy Carraway Peake. She is survived by her husband James Dilworth, Sr.; children: Stephen King (Connie), Stephanie Hughes (Joseph), Suzanne Harris (Marc); sibling: Dr. Robert P. Carraway (Jean); 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; stepchildren: James Dilworth, Jr., Caroline Minicozzi, Jessica Pittman (Lester), Michael Dilworth (Brooke); and 8 step grandchildren.
Joan was a woman of faith and a prayer warrior for many. She started her journey with cancer many years ago and her strength and her faith in the Lord never wavered.
Joan was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Opelika. She was on many committees and led and participated in many bible studies. Joan always had a passion for helping those in need and gave her time and donations to the East Alabama Food Bank, Lee County Youth Development Center, Keep Opelika Beautiful, Opelika Historical Society, and Opelika Girl Scouts.
Joan loved her family fiercely and was always there whenever anyone needed her. She was the best Gran Gran for all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.
