John William Harris, Jr.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John W. Harris Jr, age 81, of Opelika on Monday, March 23, 2026.  John passed away peacefully at his home in Beauregard surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Visitation will be held at Jeffcoat Trant Funeral Home, 1500 Frederick Rd, Opelika, Alabama on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm CST.  Funeral services will be held at Providence Baptist Church, 2807 Lee Road 166, Opelika, Alabama on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 1:00pm CST, officiated by Pastor Rusty Sowell.  Burial will follow at Garden Hill Cemetery, 1218 Frederick Rd, Opelika, Alabama.

John was born on June 21st, 1944 in Opelika, Alabama to the late John W. Harris and Eugenia Reynolds Harris.  John is survived by his wife, Dale Gilbert Harris; sons, Gregg Harris (Debbie), John D. Harris (LeAnn); grandchildren, Trent Harris (Teddy), Crystal Greenlee (Hayden), Hunter Harris, Jackson Harris, Cooper Harris; great grandchild, Evie Greenlee; step-sons, Clay Henderson (Dawn) and family, Keith Henderson (FB) and family, Derek Carmack (Ashley) and family, Ricky Carmack (Lauren) and family; sister, Genie Tirey (Lynn); nephew Brandon Tirey; niece Cheryl King-Easterling.
