Kenneth Muehlenfeld Obituary

Funeral and memorial services for Kenneth J. Muehlenfeld of Auburn will be Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 2p.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church, 1100 N College St, Auburn. The Rev. Andrew B Jones is officiating.

Mr. Muehlenfeld, who died on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at his home in Auburn, was born on July 15, 1951, at Scott AFB, Illinois.

Ken worked in the forest industry for more than 47 years. He received a forestry degree from the University of Missouri and a graduate degree in industrial management from Georgia Tech, and was an Alabama Registered Forester. He worked for 16 years in private industrial forestry, 23 years in academia with Auburn University as Director of the Forest Product Development Center, and 8 years in state government as a Senior Project Manager for the Alabama Department of Commerce. He was responsible for forest product economic development the State of Alabama.

He was an accomplished outdoorsman and entrepreneur providing consultant services to many companies – domestic and international – for many years.  Ken’s life work in forestry led to hundreds of millions of investment and thousands of jobs in the State of Alabama.  He founded the Dirt Devils Softball Organization which led to scholarship opportunities for many. 

Ken is survived by wife Linda Muehlenfeld; daughters, Emily (Cody) Hill and Melissa (Casey) Jarrell; sons, Matthew Muehlenfeld and Mitchell (Carli) Muehlenfeld; grandchildren, Blaise, Piper and Rhett Jarrell; sisters, Jolene (Mark) Roesel and Sandee Launch; mother-in-law Birdie Ratcliff; sister-in-law Lou Ann (Joey) Wall and brothers-in-law, Tommy and Ernie Ratcliff.

Mr. Muehlenfeld was predeceased by his mother and father, Joseph and Martha Muehlenfeld.
