Lorene Massey Hayes

Lorene Massey Hayes, 87, of Auburn, AL passed away Tuesday, January18, 2022 at the home of her daughter.  Lorene was born May 11, 1934 in Blount County, AL the daughter of Eunice Massey and Bertha Dingler Massey.

Lorene is survived by her Husband: Ira M. Hayes; Daughter: Sherry White; Grandsons: Zachary White (Elizabeth) and Maxwell White (Allison); Great Granddaughter: Addie Mae White; Brother: Alton Massey (Rene).

Her career consisted of a lifetime of banking which began in 1959 at the Federal Reserve in Birmingham, AL.  After her marriage to Ira in1962, they relocated and settled in Huntsville, AL where she continued her banking career until 1998 when she retired from SouthTrust Bank.  

After retirement, she and her husband relocated to Auburn, AL to be closer to her daughter and her grandsons.  She and Ira were members of Lakeview Baptist Church for the past 22 years.  They have been married for 59 years.

Visitation will be at 12:30 pm on Friday, January 21, 2022 with the service starting at 1:00 pm at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home in Opelika, AL with Tom McClendon officiating and Jeffcoat-Trant directing.
