LOUIE (“Lou”) WINSTON HAYES, Jr. was born in Birmingham, Alabama on October 30, 1947.
He died at his home on November 18, 2021.
He is predeceased in death by his father & mother, Louie Hayes, Sr. and Gretel Nordman Hayes.
He moved to Auburn Alabama with his family in 1962 from Pensacola, Florida.
He graduated from Lyman Ward Military Academy in Camp Hill, Alabama in 1965.
He was an Air Force veteran that served honorably in the Vietnam war.
After returning to Auburn, he co-owned the Tiger Package Store with his friend Lamar Humphries, and then worked for the City of Auburn for 27 years as Construction and Maintenance Coordinator. He was part of building the dorms at Auburn and even Jordan Hare Stadium.
He was an avid fisher and hunter who enjoyed his hunting buddies and their time in the “camp.”
He loved his daily breakfast at Byron’s and shopping at Publix.
He was beloved by so many.
He is survived by his devoted sister Nancy Hayes Smith (John) and 4 nephews: Justin (Brandy), Jeremy (Diana), Jason, and Jordan. And one great grandniece, Anagail Smith.
He had two nephews, Trey Johnston, and Skip (Glenda) Johnston and one niece Dixie (Gray) Keller, and many grand and wonderful nieces and nephew.
