Marlin Richard Farmer, 75, passed away on June 7, 2025, in Opelika, Alabama.
Marlin was born on March 9, 1950, in Niceville, Florida, son of the late Dallas Richard Farmer and Annie Martha Farmer. As a military family, they were stationed in various locations, including Florida, England, Italy, and California, before retirement brought them to Georgia. Later, he also served in the U.S. Air Force as a Communications Specialist and, after serving, earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Columbus State University (formerly Columbus College). Marlin spent more than thirty years at Rexnord in Auburn, Alabama, before retiring as supervisor of electrical maintenance.
Marlin was a sweet, loyal, hardworking man who was truly proud to be a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, and brother. He always had a ready smile, infectious grin, and big hug for those around him. He enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Mary Jane Farmer. Also surviving are his five children: Anita Knighton (Jon) of Oldsmar, FL, Emily Kindred (Shalon) of Sugar Hill, GA, Julie Poppo (David) of Braselton, GA, Paul Farmer of Hoschton, GA, and Kate Cragg (Tommy) of Jefferson, GA; sixteen grandchildren: Christian Pike (Christine), Lilian Dixon, Macie Haros (Alfredo), Annabelle Knighton, Daniel Titus, Aleah Henderson, Joel Titus, Nathaniel Henderson, William Knighton, David Farmer, Megan Titus, Jenna Cragg, Weston Farmer, Cole Willey, Hannah Cragg, and John Cragg; one great-grandson: Jahseh Haros; and four siblings: Yolanda Farmer of Fortson, GA, Donnie Farmer of Box Springs, GA, Kenny Farmer of Columbus, GA, and Terri Outler (Jim Ellison) of Columbus, GA. Additionally, he had many nieces and nephews, as well as his Virginia family, who loved and will miss him dearly.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
