Mr. Michael Wayne Hill

Mr. Michael Wayne Hill, 72, of Opelika passed away at home on Sunday, July 14, 2019. Mike was born at Drake Infirmary in Auburn, AL, on March 24, 1947. He was preceded in death by his parents Ammie Aldien Hill, Jr., Jane Cooper Hill, and mother-in-law Adella Segler Bodine.

Mike had lived in the Auburn/Opelika area most of his life earning both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Auburn University. He had a lengthy employment with Auburn University Human Resources, completing 41 years at his retirement in 2015. Mike has been an active member of the Opelika Rotary Club for 14 years and served as secretary. Also, he was an Amateur Radio Operator (KB4XQ) since the age of 12. He joined Methodist Church during his teenage years.

Mike is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy Bodine Hill; daughter Holly (David) Alexander of Opelika; grandson and the joy of his life Chase Julian Alexander; brother Steve (Debbie) Hill of Vista, CA; brothers-in-law: Alfred (Janet) Bodine of Thompson, GA and Max (Janet) Bodine of Birmingham, AL; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 17 at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home from 5:00pm until 7:00pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00am, Thursday, July 18, at Trinity United Methodist Church, with Reverend Earl Ballard officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Food Bank of East Alabama, 375 Industry Drive, Auburn, AL 36832, Trinity United Methodist Church, Opelika, or your favorite charity.
