Mrs. Athelia Richardson Obituary
Athelia D. Richardson, 71, of Auburn, passed away June 30, 2019, in Bethany House in Auburn. She was born in Calhoun County, Georgia on May 27, 1948. She graduated from LaGrange, Georgia. She taught a number of years in Eclectic before settling in at Chambers Academy in Lafayette, Alabama in 1975. She was a longtime English teacher and became the librarian. She enjoyed book fairs, spelling bees, and giving out homework. At home she enjoyed reading, cooking, and traveling with her sister.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter: Lane(Doug) Grady; grandson: Caleb Richardson all from Auburn; sister: Mary Delay Crowley of Griffin, GA; and a host of former and current students that loved her very much.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Ed Richardson from Auburn; parents Jeanette and Luther Delay from Calhoun, GA.
The family is accepting flowers or you may make a donation to Chambers Academy, 15048 US 431, Lafayette, AL 36862.
Visitation will be 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home. A graveside service will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Auburn Memorial Park Cemetery.
