Myles Arlyn Larson, age 81, of Auburn, AL and recently of St. Petersburg, FL passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at his home. Interment will be at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.
Born April 20, 1940 in Hustler, WI, Myles was an Electrical Engineer; he retired as the Director of Electrical Hardware Engineering from Raytheon. His forte was defense systems and he even held several patents. He was also an Army veteran and military history buff. In his retirement, he traveled with his wife Valerie all over the globe, visiting Australia, New Zealand, France, Turkey, Croatia, Argentina, Ireland, Alaska, and many other wonderful places.
Myles was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and held a Masters Degree in Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He loved black coffee, the Green Bay Packers, American beer, and dogs. He adored his grandchildren and his dog Annie.
Myles is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Valerie (Umbreit), daughter Julia Larson Gaccione of Largo, FL, son USAF Colonel Bradford (Katrina) Larson of St. Augustine, FL, step-son Patrick (Karen) Plunkett of Auburn, grandchildren Maya, Alexandra, Quinn, Sophia, and Barrett, and sister Evelyn of Waukesha, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Ester, brother Garfield and sister Doris.
