Ronald Allan “Ron” Steube, 73, passed away on November 7, 2025, in Opelika, Alabama. Born on December 24, 1951, in Woodbury, New Jersey. Ron lived a life marked by dedication to family and an enduring passion for the sport of wrestling.
Ron was the beloved husband of Jackie Steube and a devoted father to their daughter, Lanie Steube Brazell. He shared a close bond with his son-in-law, Craig Brazell, and took immense pride in his three grandsons - Trot, Tagg and Tipp Brazell - who brought him great joy. He is also remembered by his brother, Harry Steube Jr., and brothers-in-law Richard Phelps and Tim Phelps.
Throughout his life, Ron was deeply involved in the wrestling community. His commitment to the sport extended beyond personal interest; he served as both a coach and official, shaping countless young athletes with his guidance and integrity. His contributions were recognized through his 2021 induction into the Alabama Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame - a testament to the impact he made within the sport at both local and state levels.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Charlotte Steube.
A visitation will be held to honor Ron’s life on November 14, 2025 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at Jeffcoat Trant Funeral Home in Opelika, Alabama.
