Rosalind Rush Moore Obituary

With movie star looks and southern charm, Rosalind Rush Moore captivated Miami society. She was born in Montgomery, Alabama to Emily and Jimmy Rush, and grew up in Miami during the 1940’s and 50’s. She along with sister, Honky, had the perfect childhood. Rosalind was in the first graduating class of Coral Gables High School and was an Orange Bowl Princess during her senior year. She attended the University of Florida and the University of Miami and went on to write the society column for The Miami News. Then she met Phil Moore. She swept him off his feet. He proposed on the second date and she said yes. It was a fairy tale romance.

She had two much loved children, Melanie and Philippe. They grew up in a home where she entertained with a now lost flair. Rosalind had long awaited and loved grandchildren, John and Katie in 2010. She also had a close group of friends, The Fat Cats, which include Jean, Bea and Barbara. As said by her cousin Fred Thomason, “She will be the prettiest girl in Heaven”. She will be sorely missed by her daughter, Melanie and family, Jason, John and Katie Barfield; her sister, Honky Bowles, and family, Emily, Don, Michael, Niklas, Rush and James; and especially missed by her dear friend, Jean Kislak.  A celebration of Rosalind’s fabulous life will be held in March.
