Sammy O'Neal Simpson

Sammy O’Neal Simpson, 86, of Opelika, AL passed away May 8, 2024 at home. He was born on March 10 1938 in LaFayette, AL.

Sammy loved the Lord and reading his bible; he was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church for 44 years. He never met a stranger and brought joy and laughter to whomever he was talking to. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Christine Simpson; his daughter Simone Hill (Burt); grandchildren: Matt Middleton (Niki) and Lindsey Hayley (Reede); and his great grandchildren: Lucas, Jaxon, Maxwell, Austin, and Riley. He was preceded in death by his son, Sammy O’Neal Simpson II.

A funeral service will be held at Lakeview Baptist church Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 2:00 pm followed by a committal service at 4:00 pm at LaFayette City Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 pm. Reverend Al Jackson will officiate the service.
