Sarah Gladys Williams, 83, of Auburn, AL, passed away on February 27, 2025. Born on March 5, 1941, in Rochester, PA, she was the daughter of George and Edith Shanor Hobbs, and the stepdaughter of Audrey LaBorde Hobbs. She was a former resident of the Williamsport, PA area.
Sarah spent her childhood years in Erie, Pennsylvania, where she graduated from Strong Vincent High School. After high school, she obtained a double bachelor’s degree in mathematics and English education so that she was certified to teach in both areas. She then earned a master’s degree in English literature from Gannon University. Sarah taught high school English in Hollidaysburg, PA, before taking a few years off to raise her children. Upon resuming her teaching, she taught secondary mathematics in Jersey Shore Area School District until she retired.
Outside of her professional career, Sarah was actively involved in church events. She enjoyed playing the piano. Additionally, her hobbies included completing sudoku puzzles, making iris paper folding cards, playing Scrabble, and birdwatching. She took pleasure in spending time with her family. Sarah enjoyed traveling and learning about historical events.
Sarah was predeceased by her husband, Lowell Williams, who died in 2023. She is survived by her son Jonathan (Beth), of Largo, FL, her daughter, Gwendolyn, with whom she lived in Auburn, AL, and her brother George (Anne) of Columbia, TN.
