Tamara Colleen Higgins Poole

Tammy went to be with Jesus the morning of May 29, 2022, surrounded by family.  She leaves behind her husband that she adored, Robert Poole (Bobby), her beautiful daughter, Mary Harper, and her son and buddy, Johnny.  She is survived by her Mom and Dad, Barbara and Rod Higgins, her brother, Lance Higgins, and her sister-in-law, Emily Rabjohns.  She is preceded in death by her ever-missed older brother Johnny Louden.

Tammy was born in Manassas, Virginia, and raised in Fairfax Station, Virginia.  She attended Auburn University where she befriended, but never dated Bobby.  After receiving her BA and MBA at Auburn she attended law school in New York.  She was a member of the New York, New Jersey, and Washington D.C. Bar Associations, having passed each Bar exam on her first try.  She worked in New York for many years before returning to Virginia.

In 2006, Tammy and Bobby were reintroduced by a very best friend.   On December 29, 2007, they were married in Old Towne Alexandria, Virginia.  Two weeks after the wedding the couple took up house in Auburn and the best years of her life were to follow.  In 2008, Tammy became a mother for the first time to Mary Harper, a spirited blonde hair beauty that stole her parents’ hearts.  In 2010, Tammy and Bobby were blessed with a son, Johnny, named after Tammy’s adored older brother.  Johnny and his tender heart softened his parents’ hearts forever.

On October 5, 2015, Tammy was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive cancer.  She fought every single day and was grateful for every day that God gave her with her family.  Tammy was the most wonderful person, friend, wife, and mother.  She brought joy to everyone she encountered.  She is loved and will be greatly missed.

Tammy’s funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 3, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Auburn.  Visitation will be one-hour prior to the Mass.  In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in Tammy’s honor to her children’s 529 Plans by contacting Stacy Miller at Bright Investments at smiller@brightinvestments.com or to the M.D. Anderson Leiomyosarcoma Research Fund c/o Dr. Somaiah.
