Mrs. Teresa Dianne Jones Woodley (Dianne), 76, of Auburn, Alabama, passed away on July, 4 2025 in Pinellas County, Florida. Dianne is remembered as a teacher, a homemaker and office manager, a sister, an aunt, and an ever supportive wife and mother.
Dianne was born December 10th, 1948 in Andalusia, Alabama. The Jones family moved to Auburn in the 1950s, and it was there that Dianne met her future husband, Stephen Travis Woodley. Dianne graduated from Auburn High School in 1967, then Auburn University, first with her B. S. degree in elementary education in 1970, and then with her Masters in education in August of 1972.
Dianne began her early career as a teacher at Cary Woods Elementary. She then took time away to raise her young children, before later returning to the workforce where she managed Woodley Enterprises for decades with her husband, Steve. Dianne was passionate about her family, her dogs, and an active outdoor lifestyle. She was known by neighbors to always be working in the yard, walking the dog, or exercising. On a weekend you could usually find Dianne and Steve walking with their dog around Moore’s Mill or at the Chewacla trail. She greeted everyone with a friendly smile and hello, and was especially happy to meet dogs and babies. Dianne looked forward to time with her family in Destin and Disney, and our annual gathering on Thanksgiving Day of the Jones and Woodley families.
Dianne Jones Woodley was preceded in death by her parents, ZT Jones and Annie Rae Tillman Jones, her sister-in-law, Susan Eloise Henderson Jones, her mother-in-law, Annette Pyke Woodley, her father-in-law, USMC Lt. Col. Dr. Charles Hunter Woodley, her brother-in-law, Charles Hunter Woodley Junior, and her husband of fifty-one years, Stephen Travis Woodley. She is survived by her son, Sean Travis Woodley of Auburn, AL, and her daughter, Dr. Christen Michelle Woodley of Dunedin, FL; her sister, Shera Ann Jones Taylor (James) of Newnan, GA; her brother, Laird Ricky Jones (Tina) of Jackson, TN; her sister in law, Janice Kay Woodley of Auburn, AL; her nieces: Meredith Leigh Taylor Ivey (Russell) of Gurley, AL, Hannah Maria Elacqua Jones and Christina Elacqua Jones of Jackson, TN, Tonya Kay Woodley Storm (Richard) of Auburn, AL, Dr. Kimberly Karen Woodley LeBrun (Lance) of Dripping Springs, TX; nephews: Mark Brandon Taylor (Brianna) of Marietta, GA, Major Charles Hunter Woodley III (Stephanie) of Lake Martin, AL, and Travis Michael Woodley (Hannah) of Auburn, AL.
The family would like to especially thank the many wonderful people that played a part in keeping her company and keeping her safe in her last years (Joann Norman, Linda Newsome, Lorene Williams, Ninga Johnson, Doris Mezick, and the caretakers at Arden Courts). These ladies were a shining light and comfort to our Mom and family during a difficult journey. Also, Dr. Mary Smith, Jeanie, and Carol, the staff at Auburn Veterinary Hospital that were so kind to her and took wonderful care of all of our dogs over the decades.
In lieu of flowers we ask that you contribute to your local animal shelters, local pet Good Samaritan funds, and city or state parks.
Visitation will be held at Jeffcoat Trant Funeral Home Saturday, July 12th at 10 AM, followed by a graveside service at Auburn Memorial Park at 11:30 AM.
