Thomas A. Bennett, 76, passed into Heaven surrounded by his family on November 10, 2025 after a cardiac arrest while getting a massage on his favorite cruise liner. It is just like Tom to go out with a bang! He would have wanted a good story. Tom was born on September 21, 1949 to William Bennett and Margaret Wilson Bennett.
He went to Thomas Dale High School and then onto Virginia Tech for his Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering. In 1971, he married Trish, the mother of his children, and they remained together until her death. In 2020, he met and married his travel companion Lisa. They enjoyed many vacations together all over the country.
Tom was a loving husband, father, and papa (grandfather). He enjoyed traveling, Disney World, Virginia Tech football games, playing cards, and problem solving. He always took care of his family and loved them deeply.
He worked at Ampex (Quantegy) as an engineer for many years. He was also a recruiter for MRINetwork. In between jobs, he helped Wayne Kimberly build houses. They collectively designed the Bennett family home affectionately known as the “Sunnyslope Estate”.
He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Auburn, AL and Central Church in Pensacola Beach, FL. He enjoyed teaching Sunday School.
Tom is survived by his wife Lisa Bennett; daughters Kathy Bennett, Valerie Bennett, and Debbie (John) Logan; granddaughter Amber Johns; sister Annette Amshoff; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Patricia Bennett.
In lieu of flowers, make a donation to a Church or Charity or an Angel Tree Wish in his name.
A graveside service will be held at 1pm on November 19, 2025 at Town Creek Cemetery. Pastor Jack Kale will be officiating the service.
