William "Bill" Truman Collier died Tuesday January 24th at his residence at the age of 68.
Bill was born October 7, 1954 to Truman Warner and Grace Ward Collier in Montgomery, AL. Bill grew up in Wetumpka, AL until his family moved to Auburn to run the family farm. Bill graduated from Scott Preparatory School in 1973. He married his wife Mary in 1978. He graduated from Auburn University in Agricultural Business and Economics in 1979. After graduation, he and Mary started a hog farm and helped his parents run Wire Road Farm Center. After selling all the hogs, Bill began to farm cotton and hay until he retired.
He was a member of Loachapoka United Methodist Church where he once served as Chairman of the Board. He also served as Secretary Treasure for the Lee County Farmers Federation for many years.
He loved his two dogs, Rufus and Muffin, Auburn Football, camping with friends, and spending time with family.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Truman and Grace Collier, his sister Dorothy Kolander, and his brother-in-law, Jim Dorman.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Dorman Collier, his daughter, Amanda Collier Yates (Gavin), his grandsons, Slade Douglas and Lane Truman Yates, his father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Shirley Dorman, and his brother-in-law, Keith Kolander.
Visitation will be held Thursday January 26th at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home beginning at 5:00pm until 7:00pm. A funeral service will be held at Jeffcoat-Trant Chapel Friday January 27th at 11:00 with burial at Auburn Memorial Park. Pastors Dr. Ken Jackson and Rev. John Fox are officiating.
