Winifred Cosby Long passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at the age of 81. She was in her hometown of Opelika, Alabama, where she was born and lived most of her life.
Winifred was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Mr. Huey P. Long. She is survived by her children, Stephen Long, Chris Long (Karen), Brian Long (Sebrina), Vicky Nixon, and Laura Jones. She was a proud Mee Maw to her beloved grandchildren: Robert Truong; Blaire Engleman, Brady Long, and Piper Long; Natalie Nixon, Joseph Nixon, and Zac Nixon; Lyndsey Long Hedstrom (Eric) and Jarred Long; and Ansley Jones.
Winifred was a very loved family matriarch, friend, wife, mother and grandmother. She worked as a registered nurse caring for others at EAMC after raising a family of five children. Her greatest pride and joy were her family who she devoted a life to supporting in various loving ways. Although she will be missed more than words can convey, we have a lifetime of precious memories to help us endure.
