I was just thinking about the past and O.C. Brown's name came to mind. Now I know that he is in heaven. He was one of the people who was very instrumental in my Christian growth. I got to know him well when he came to my church in Montgomery for revival week. He was a student at Huntingdon and led our church youth (me being one of them) in a revival. When I attended Auburn (from 1965 - 1969), he was pastor at Grace, and I attended services there regularly once I had a car to get there. I talked him into coming to my dorm to give a weekly devotional. I loved hearing O.C. sing at church; I know he is singing with the angels in heaven. I remember when he told me he was leaving the ministry to go work with the federal government - that made me sad as O.C. was an exceptional minister but I knew he wanted to be able to support his family. And I was sad when I found out that he needed brain surgery. He sent me letters for a period of time following his surgery once he could communicate. I lost touch with him for quite a number of years until I received an invitation to attend a reception for him at Grace Methodist, at which time I met his wife. O.C. will always hold a special place in my heart for guiding me through my youth. I wish I could hear him sing and preach just one more time like he did when I was young. Much sympathy to his wife and family!

O.C. and I had been friends for 64 years. We first met in 1953, at a UMC Youth Mission at Blue Lake Camp in Andalusia, AL We had kept in touch through all these years, though we traveled different paths. He was a unique personality with strong opinions! Those of you who knew him are well aware of that, but he loved conversing on many different subjects. He was dealt a tough time when he had that difficult surgery that left him physically challenged, but his mind was still as sharp as ever. I will miss his friendship very much, and wish I could be at his service, but am myself still recuperating from a severe auto accident on March 7th. My love and condolences to the family.

I was a classmate of O. C. at Dothan High School. Everyone
knew and liked O. C. My favorite memory of him is seeing
him dressed in his resplendent costume as the drum major
for the DHS marching band.

I send my deepest sympathy to O. C.'s family. May God keep
you in his tender care and give you comfort as you mourn the
loss of your loved one. O. C. Brown lived a good life here on
earth, but God has called him home to receive his heavenly
reward.

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. During the difficult days ahead may you find comfort in God's Word the Bible, it speaks of the hope of seeing your loved one again. (John 5:28,29 and Acts 24:15). At a time when sickness, suffering and death will be wiped completely away. (Isaiah 33:24; Revelations 21:3,4 and
1 Corinthians 15:26) Jesus promise at Matthew 5:5 that mild-tempered or meek people will have the opportunity to live on the earth forever.
